The Art Matters Website and My Journey...
I have always been interested in art and design, crafts and music composition. As one of my interests, I had always wanted to learn how to design and create websites, and so with encouragement, in 2003 I started an adult education course using MS FrontPage.

Once I had learnt the basics of how to create a website, I went on to take more course’s at Reigate School of Art & Design using Dreamweaver and Photoshop, and then took a further course in Flash web design, also using Illustrator. This has led me onto having to learn Html, JavaScript, PHP & ASP ect.

I have completed a few City & Guilds courses in MS office applications, such as MS Word and MS Access, and have so far passed 4 subjects with Distinctions.

I completed another City & Guilds course at Reigate School of Art in Desktop Publishing and Digital Photography, using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign and passed with another distinction.

In 2003 I started Craft Matters, at the same time I started learning web design at college.
Art Matters was a new project back then and as a library of paintings was starting to build up, and the renting scheme was quiet fresh.

I thought it would be a great idea to promote the paintings and art work that we did in the studio to a wider audience, and so I offered to make the Art Matters website for the unit. I also think it is very important to acknowledge the creativity people with mental health issues can produce, and lift the stigma mental health carries.

Since then the website has grown dramatically and has really taken off, and caught many people’s attention around the country and locally....and now across the world.

It has been a massive ongoing project for me, and that I really enjoy doing.

Art Matters was put up on the server February 2004 and since then it has led me onto more work opportunities.

With the help of E.S.R.A (Employment Support and Retraining Agency, I am currently working for the Surrey Primary Care NHS Trust working on the 'First Steps' website. The website focus's on providing self help information for people with Mental Health problems within Surrey. The website also provides information on ‘Employment Issues’ and 'Relationship problems', also the website provides information for people in Surrey on how to get the right support to get into a work environment, so people with MH issues are able to cope in a work environment.

I have also worked for E.S.R.A and have made them their website.

My websites can be seen on my website page.
